Working on My New Piano Music Book

Thought I’d bring you up to date on what’s coming up on tomspianostudio.com! In other words… what kind of actions are going to be viewable and available soon on the website.

On Saturday, my publisher-editor and I met with Anthony J. Powers, who will be the Artist doing my new piano music book (“A Collection of Original Works and Arrangements for Piano” by Tom Fachan). He is going to be doing the covers (front and back), plus doing a “sketch” for each of the following 11 pieces to be found in their entirety in the book.

This is the preliminary order and Titles of the pieces—both original works and 2 arrangements.

  1. The Woodland Trail
  2. Symphony no. 7, 2nd Movement Theme by L.v. Beethoven
  3. McRoad
  4. El Rio Bravo
  5. Sentimental Me
  6. Dance of the Evening Winds and Shadows (digital recording of which is already published on the music page)
  7. Berceuse (Lullaby) by Gabriel Faure… (for 2 hands piano)
  8. Le Complaint d’un Jeaune Fille (A Little Girl’s Lament)
  9. Night Sky (digital recording of which is already published on the music page)
  10. Variations on 2 Themes, Medley “Folia” and “Greensleeves”
  11. Blue Corners of the Night (digital recording of which is already published on the music page)

So, I have been editing, editing, all of the above in Sibelius —the music scoring program. I have at least one pass through each of the above and am now starting my final editing pass through each. In these editing passes I work on such details as notes, rhythms, fingerings, piano-guitar chords; and then the overall dynamics including slurs, crescendo and decresendo, and temp markings. So there are a lot of details to make It right and readable.

Looking forward to getting past all of these details and seeing the overall project progress to final draft and printing!
